Brian Schofield

Brian Schofield is what the true definition of a “basketball junkie” is all about. Ever since he was 10 years old he has played and studied the game just as passionately as a person possibly can.

In Junior High School Brian was chosen to go to the 5 Star Basketball Camp in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was one of 100 incoming 9th graders to get this chance. He played against future pro’s like Travis Best and over 90 other players who went on to sign with Division 1 Colleges. He received this offer after averaging 38 points and 5 assists a game as a 9th grader. He led his team to the league finals while scoring 49 points in a loss. He scored 73 points in a recreation league game during the same season.

Brian then went to Bonneville High School in Ogden, Utah and transitioned to point guard. He lettered as a sophomore scoring nearly 8 points a game on a team that lost in the state semifinals. He was voted as the teams 6th man of the year during that season.

During that summer Brian was chosen for the UTAH SELECT BCI team that played in a major tournament in Lubbock, Texas. There he played against a New York City Riverside team which featured 12 players who signed Division 1 scholarships.

During his Junior year he was the starting point guard. He averaged 17 points and 7 assists per game. He was voted all tournament team to 2 different preseason tourneys and was voted honorable mention All State after the season.

The summer between his Junior and Senior year Brian went to several big camps throughout the country including FutureStars in Iowa. He was voted Mr. Pumped up Offense after leading the camp in scoring. His family moved to Iowa prior to his Senior year. There he played with Russ Millard at Cedar Rapids Washington. Millard went to the University of Iowa and was drafted by the Phoenix Suns years later. Brian averaged 16 points a game and 8 assists his Senior year in Iowa. He was voted an All Metro selection.

After his Senior year Brian signed with the University of Utah to play for Rick Majerus prior to serving a 2 year church mission. When he came back from his mission he signed and played at Utah Valley University and then a year at Ricks College in Idaho. He finished his collegiate career at Southern Utah University.

Brian scored a collegiate career high of 24 points on 3 occasions and led his team in foul shooting each season. At Utah Valley he was an 88% free throw shooter. During his time at Ricks College he shot 44% from the 3 point line while leading the team in assists and turnover ratio.

Some of the players Brian has played against that play or played in the NBA are: Jason Kidd, Travis Best, Bobby Hurley, Cherokee Parks, Mark Madsen, Shawnelle Scott, Trajon Langdon.
